CQC Registration Consultancy
Registering with the Care Quality Commission is a significant undertaking. We help new and expanding providers in England understand what is required, prepare the right evidence and approach the process with confidence.
Preparing for registration properly
Anyone carrying on a regulated activity in England must be registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) before they start. The application asks you to show that your service will be safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led from day one, which means your policies, systems, people and premises need to be ready before you apply, not afterwards.
Many applications are delayed because key documents are generic, incomplete or do not match how the service will actually run. Our role is to help you close those gaps early. We work through your plans with you, identify what CQC is likely to look for, and help you build documentation that genuinely reflects your service.
How we support you
- Registration readiness assessment. A structured review of where you are now against what a registration application needs, with a clear, prioritised action plan.
- Regulated activity guidance. Helping you work out which regulated activities apply to your service model, so you apply for the right things.
- Statement of Purpose. Developing a clear Statement of Purpose that meets the regulatory requirements and accurately describes your aims, services and the people you support.
- Registered Manager application support. Guidance for proposed Registered Managers on the application, the evidence they will need and how to talk about their experience and responsibilities.
- Regulatory documentation. Support preparing the supporting information CQC asks for, so it is consistent across every part of the application.
- Policies and procedures. Developing the policies your service actually needs, written for your model rather than copied from a template.
- Governance preparation. Setting up quality assurance, audit, oversight and reporting arrangements that a new provider can realistically run.
- Compliance gap analysis. Reviewing your arrangements against the fundamental standards and identifying what still needs to be put in place.
- Interview preparation. Practice sessions for providers and Registered Managers ahead of CQC registration interviews, focused on knowing your own service inside out.
Which nations we cover
CQC regulates health and adult social care in England. If you are planning a service in Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland, the relevant regulators are Care Inspectorate Wales, the Care Inspectorate and the RQIA respectively. Talk to us about your plans and we will tell you honestly whether we can help.

FAQs
CQC Registration: common questions
How long does CQC registration take?
Timescales are set by CQC and vary depending on the type of service, the quality of the application and CQC's own workload. We cannot promise a timescale, but a complete, well prepared application avoids many of the avoidable delays we see.
Do I need a Registered Manager before I apply?
Most providers carrying on regulated activities need a Registered Manager, and the manager's application usually runs alongside the provider application. We help you understand the requirement for your service and support the proposed manager through their application.
Can you write our Statement of Purpose?
Yes. We develop it with you so that it accurately describes your aims and objectives, the regulated activities you will carry on, the people you will support and where the service will operate. It should reflect how your service will really run, so your input is essential.
Can you help if our application was previously rejected or withdrawn?
Yes. We review the feedback and your previous submission, identify what needs to change and help you prepare a stronger application.
